Fat Tom is my new best friend. He is a mnemonic, a memory technique that uses the letters of his name to stand for something else. Fat Tom is my ServSafe Exam partner for the ServSafe test I take on January 23. Once I pass that test I will get my ServSafe Manager’s license, which opens the door to a commercial kitchen where Seedy Nutty can be produced for retail outlets, restaurants, movie theaters, CSA add-ons and online sales.
Fat Tom is helping me remember the favorable conditions that bacteria need to grow to produce food-borne pathogens. My chubby buddy stands for Food, Acidity, Time, Temperature, Oxygen and Moisture.
Seedy Nutty on a family trip to Israel in 2011. It wasn't until she wrote an article about the Crossroads Community Farmers Market, that she realized that she could make a go of the business and set up a stand in September 2015. You can meet Rosanne at the market most Wednesdays from May through November.
In her other life Rosanne is a freelance writer and was a long-time science and environmental reporter for Voice of America.
She is currently a fellow with GreenFaith, a coalition of faith communities worldwide that have come together to advocate for action on climate change.
